• At the base, we met Leo, one of many friends on the trail.
• It's a long way down...
• Our campsite had a platform for our tent. We were impressed--it's a long trek in!
• Afternoon with overcast skies.

• Morcella!
• 3PM. Little did we know, we still had 8 hours to go...

• At one point, we crossed a river and lost sight of the trail. Looking upstream, we saw a bridge about half a mile away, with bright orange posts marking our route!
• It took us 45 minutes of scaling boulders (with packs) and two deep-water crossings to reach the bridge, but we finally made it!
• But after getting to the other side of the bridge, we realized there wasn't a trail... It's a trap! Apparently the bridge was part of a new route still under construction. It took us another 30 minutes to get down, by which time it was already 8PM.
• 10PM. Luckily for us, the sun was just starting to set, because we still had a long way to go...
• We finally reached campsite at 11:30PM, where we promptly rented the last campsite still available for the night. This is the view we awoke to the next morning.

• Since we were next to a glacier lake, the obvious thing to do was to just jump in. It was freezing.
• Rob, from South Africa, was persuaded to jump in only after we gave him the glacier lake swimming world cup scores: Mexico: 1; USA: 2; South Africa: 1.
