  • I saw this blogged about on a photography blog, so I take zero credit for coming up with this idea. I set my camera a safe distance away, then lit the stove. At first, I tried the normal pepper, but that barely produced a spark. So, I took out the big pepper grinder, and sparks began to fly. Using my newly repaired wireless remote shutter, I turned off the lights, and ground pepper into the fire while holding down the shutter. I experimented with shutter times anywhere from 0.1s to 3s. In the end, shutter times of around 1s produced the best streaks--enough of them, but with individual streaks distinguishable.<br />

If you try this, be warned that you will end up with a LOT of pepper on your stove, and after a while, the burned pepper starts smelling weird.
