Day 74. September 20, 2010. I was setting up my umbrella, and accidentally hit the shutter in 10-second timer mode. Of course, it looked terrible, but that got me thinking to do a staged shot with that concept. Standing this close to the light, even having the umbrella didn't look quite diffuse enough, so I put a diffuser on the strobe behind the umbrella. Double diffusers! Once that was setup and adjusted, I upped the on-camera fill just enough so there would be some definition in the face.
Also, umbrellas are very good at catching wind.
• Day 2. July 10, 2010. A housemate and I had a joint birthday party, and rented a huge slip 'n slide bounce house. Here is my partner in crime in action.
• Day 7. July 15, 2010. Wolverine rocking out at Palantir's Rock Band competition. The venue was fully decked out with a raised stage, stage lights, projected background, a large-screen monitor TV, multi-camera setup, a full bar, and various other accoutrements. Oh, and we were crowned champions, may I add. :) Taking sharp photos with dim stage lighting is extremely difficult. At ISO 1250 and f/3.2, I still had to have a 1/25 shutter to get enough light on the sensor, so there was a lot of trying to time my shutter clicks with when the player stopped moving for a split second.
• Day 51. August 28, 2010. Had a fun time this morning taking some "semi-professional" shots of a friend at Stanford's CCRMA. Things I learned: (1) Blond hair is extremely reflective and will quickly blow out your highlights if you're not careful with your lighting. (2) Studio lighting controls at CCRMA are the most unintuitive things ever. (3) I need a boom for my light stand. and (4) Too much of a catchlight makes your subject look like an anime character.

This is in CCRMA's listening room, which is perhaps the most perfectly designed room for audio playback ever.
• Day 83. September 29, 2010. My backyard work area. Unfortunately, I routinely quit working after some time, and take a nap instead, after strolling into the garden to eat some tomatoes.
